First off, open paintBBS (ANIMATED!) and make a sketch. I used one of my fakes for this.
Now go to layer FG (layer 1) and do the lineart. I used watercolor lineart. This takes forever to do. Make sure the sketch is on layer 0 instead of layer 1 though. This is a mistake I make a lot.
To do watercolor lineart, I used 3 PX watercolor lines at A235 on freehand. Then I tapered it a bit. After you get it done, it should look like this:
Now put in the main color of the character on layer 0.
Then, shade the parts where there should be shading in watercolors at A225. Just use the normal color then hit "darken" 2-3 times that's to the right of the picture under the color palettes.
After that, make your brush 2 pixels big and scribble furry-like shading on the ends where the normal and shading colors meet at.
Repeat and add more layers of darker shading (hit the darken button twice) shading to it! (I usually add 3-5 layers of shading on my pictures)
Now we have to do the highlighting. Just add that were shading doesn't belong. I'd use 2-3 layers of highlighting in my picture. (press the brighten tool that's to the right of the picture under the color palettes 2-3 times)
Now we have to erase (WITH THE ERASER! DO NOT USE THE WHITE COLOR ON IT OR IT'LL SCREW UP YOUR LAYERS!) the icky coloring outside the lineart. Once you get that done, it should look like this:
Now put all the coloring on layer 1 (layer FG) by using the lay-unif button (click copy once) and drag the giant rectangle it creates over everything (make sure you're on layer 1, or everything will be on layer 0). Then after you're done with that colorin the rest of everything!
Now that we're done with that, we have to do a background. Since I'm not very creative and I'm probably almost over my KB limit, I'll just use a simple background. NOW WE'RE DONE!
